This satirical Spanglish song from El Chombo (featuring Andy Val's Gourmet) mocks many of the conventions of Raggaeton-style music. It is at once incomprehensible and absolutely infectious. Much like O-Zone's Dragostea Din Tei, this is the inspiration for many odd remakes, obnoxious remixes, and bizarre homemade videos. This CVS was inspired by Stick Figures on Crack 3.
One of my biggest fantasies is to do a stage play remaking some of my favorite bits of (Roberto Gomez Bolaños better known as) Chespirito's television presentations. He used to do wonderful impressions of Laurel and Hardy, and Charles Chaplin, as well as putting out these absolutely delightful little low-budget shows that had a nice Vaudevillian edge to it, with some absurdism thrown into the fix. His characters, El Chapulin Colorado (a.k.a. that weird Mexican bumble bee guy) in the Simpsons, El Chavo del 8, El Chompiras, El Doctor Chapatin and many others delighted Latin America for decades. I also include some of Benny Hill's decidedly more Burlesque act. His chase scenes were absolutely legendary and his song parodies were a delight. He also had the Hill's Angels, a pretty, but decidedly 70's take on the Burlesque dance. Both of these guys were masters at the art of physical comedy, a sadly neglected aspect of today's B&V revival movement. However, one aspect that has never been ignored, is the pretty girl, and one of the best known commedienne dancers was Iris Chacon, Puerto Rico's disco answer to Gypsy Rose. Not especially a master of anything, but her stage prescence made her irrisistable. I don't have her comedy to share, but I will share a video of her shaking it. Here's some of the tacky bits of humorI enjoyed as a kid.Hopefully language won't be an issue here. The laugh track is annoying, but whatever... it's fun.
The following are Internet fad phenomena that rocked the world in spite of their charming stupidity. Can you think of any others?
Yes, I realize it's not everyone's favorite song, but I wish to submit a wonderful remake using a theremin, one of the coolest instruments ever invented, for comparison.
Today I converted a bunch of sock-puppets that I use for one of my less wholesome webcomics into marionettes, and I made a stupid little video to celebrate my accomplisments. (I actually know how to use video editing software, YAY!) So to celebrate my victory, today's CVS is about puppets in videos.
A puppet video worth watching from Google Video: Things Are Familiar (Super Mario With Puppets!)
The You Tube Goodies! (Some videos may not be work or kid safe.)
Page 3 girl, starlet and musical poptart, and lipstick lesbian, Samantha Fox, was discovered by the Sun. It's a tabloid run by the same folks who bring you the Fox Network -- hence, the horrible pun for a title. Coincidence? Probably. Here's a look at her musical work, as well as unintentional funny of adult amusement by some Gunther dude from Sweden. (Some of these videos are not child or work safe.)
Regrettably, I could not find a video featuring the Isley Brothers original version, but I did dig up a couple of gems including a saucy rendition by Mae West and the Beatle's Original. As a bonus, I added a clip featuring Elwee and Tree Weasel doing a style parody entitled "Twitch and Write" from Ralph Bakshi's Mighty Mouse: The New Adventures.
